The UWI Cave Hill Campus partners with Yale and Tuft Universities to host Trade and Climate Action Workshop

Prime Minister of Barbados, The Honourable Mia Amor Mottley will deliver the keynote address at a workshop entitled
Trade and Climate Action: Shifting the Paradigm for a Just Transition and Sustainable Development on
May 2-5, 2023, at the Hilton Barbados Resort.
The workshop, which was conceptualized under the
Remaking the Global Trading System for a Sustainable Future Project, is a joint initiative of the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy, the Shridath Ramphal Centre at The University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus and Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
Over 45 international business and finance executives from the fields of trade, sustainable development and climate change, will join with academics and policymakers at this forum to debate and ultimately propose solutions, on how the trade agenda can advance sustainable climate action in a manner that meets the needs and priorities of developing countries.
An immediate output of the meeting will be a synthesis document highlighting key areas the trade agenda must prioritize for reform or action. Topics to be discussed include,
Rethinking the international trade-related finance architecture for sustainable climate action and
Promoting Responsible Investing and Sustainable Business Practices.
