Anniversaries are an opportunity to look both back and forward. Forged from a crucible for change and transformation the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), UWI, Cave Hill Campus marks its Golden Jubilee celebrations in 2025, reflecting on its stewardship in fulfillment of its stated purpose and the immense transformative potential the future holds. The Faculty of Social Sciences is therefore delighted to host its inaugural FSS Conference under the theme 50 Years of Ideas, Inquiry, Impact: Reflections from the Past, Pioneers of Future Development, to mirror (1) ideas and inquiry that have impacted and shaped regional development over the past 50 years and (2) the vision needed to propel the region a pathway to greater resilience, sustainability, and prosperity over the next 50 years.


FSS invites all FSS Cave Hill pioneers (academic staff—past and current and FSS alumni) who have been involved in leadership, management, policy formulation, and stimulation of ideas that have influenced the region’s development, growth, and prosperity to contribute to this conference. Contributors must be former or current employees in the FSS at the Cave Hill Campus, or alumni who have worked in the public, private, or NGO sectors in the region or internationally. Pioneers can be resident in any part of the world.
