With effect from December 2013, the former The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Library was relocated to its new accommodations on the ground floor of the Errol Walrond Building at the UWI Clinical Skills Complex on Jemmott’s Lane, St. Michael. In addition to a larger space for the collection, provision was made for a computer laboratory, two discussion rooms for small groups, and a 24-hour reading room.
Now under the management of The University of the West Indies, the Medical Library continues to provide access to resources- print, electronic and AV- in the Health Sciences but with particular emphasis on the clinical disciplines; to coordinate access to a number of electronic databases and journals, and provide reference services to our constituents which include at this time members of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, the staff of the QEH and other health professionals of Barbados. In addition, the Library offers laminating, photocopying, printing, scanning and spiral binding services.
The Medical Library's opening hours are currently 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Patrons may use the library on production of a Medical Library or UWI identification card.
