The Frank Alleyne Memorial Scholarship is an undergraduate scholarship in Economics provided by the UWI (Cave Hill) Co-operative Credit Union Ltd in honour of one of our founding members whom we recently lost in 2023. Frank Alleyne was a founding member of the “Buyers Club” in the late '70s and early '80s on the Cave Hill Campus. He used his energy and dedication to be part of the ten founding members who applied to the Registrar of Co-operatives in 1985 to register as a Savings Society.
 

a) One (1) scholarship for a maximum duration of three (3) years will be awarded.

b) The value of the scholarship will be BDS$5,000 per annum.

c) The Scholarship is offered every three (3) years under this agreement.
 

a) Citizens of Barbados who have gained admission to any Campus of The University of the West Indies

to read for a degree majoring in Economics.

b) Applicants will be required to establish financial need by providing a budget with their monthly

expenditures.
 

a) During the tenure of the scholarship (three years), there will only be one recipient of the scholarship.

b) The continuance of the Scholarship shall be subject to reports of good conduct and academic progress

on the part of the Scholarship holder. The recipient of the scholarship will be required to maintain a

GPA of 3.0.
 

a) The Scholarship shall be advertised by The UWI, Cave Hill Campus.

b) Applications should be sent to Student Affairs (Records), The UWI, Cave Hill Campus, by May 31,

in the year the Scholarship is being offered.

c) The UWI Cave Hill Campus will provide The UWI (Cave Hill) Co-operative Credit Union with a

short list of four (4) students along with supporting documents. The final selection decision will lie

with The UWI (Cave Hill) Co-operative Credit Union.

d) The award of the Scholarship shall be announced by The UWI, after the selection is made by The UWI

(Cave Hill) Co-operative Credit Union.
