Application Checklist


Persons may apply to pursue online or face-to-face courses. 
 

Online Courses

If you wish to enroll in an online course, you can do so by using the application portal. The following steps should be used to complete the online form: 
  1. Visit the Course directory to view our course offerings
  2. Select the course of interest to review the course description and other related information
  3. Select the Register Now button

All forms must be completed in English.  A separate application form is required for each course.

Face-to-Face Courses 


If you are applying to our face-to-face programmes, kindly follow the steps below to successfully complete your application:

Step 1                             

 ESL English Proficiency Examination: You must complete a written proficiency examination to determine your level of proficiency. In addition, you must participate in an oral interview via Skype or Zoom. Send us your email, Skype or Zoom address.
 

Step 2     

 Complete the following forms [PDFs]: Answer the questions carefully and accurately. Forms will be emailed to you.

  2.  UWI Medical Form
  3.  Student Visa Application Form:
 

Step 3

 Submit your application: Double check to ensure that all required forms are answered accurately and submit.  A copy of each form should be submitted to cell@cavehill.uwi.edu. Completed original forms should be sent via courier to the:
         Officer-in-Charge

       The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus
       BB11000, Barbados
 

Step 4

 Receive Acceptance Letter: The University of the West Indies will contact you via email with the acceptance letter.  (This letter should be provided to the immigration officers upon arrival). You should NOT pay for your ticket until you have your acceptance letter in hand.
 

Step 5

 Payment of Fees: All fees should be paid to the university in full on arrival to the campus. Fifty percent (50%) of your programme fees must be paid once you have received your acceptance letter and the remaining 50% is due prior to your arrival in Barbados.
 
   

Visa Requirements

All persons who are desirous of pursuing a course of study in Barbados must apply for a student visa before entering the island.  The University will assist you with this process. Visa applications should be submitted to the university for submission to the Immigration Department. Original visa application forms should be submitted to the University via international courier for submission to the Immigration Department at least two weeks prior to the student’s arrival in Barbados.  The Immigration Department normally allows UWI students to enter the island on presentation of the UWI Acceptance Letter.

 

Important Information to Note

  •  Ensure that your passport is valid to cover at least the period of your study.
  •  You must purchase a return ticket.
  •  You should also travel with proof of your student status (i.e. the official Letter of Offer from the University).
  •  Visa Application Fee is US$150.00.  This amount should be paid in full to the university on arrival.
  •  Two (2) passport size photographs should be submitted with the application form. (Photographs should not be taken in sleeveless tops or head-gear).
