Certificate in TESOL

Overview

This course targets individuals who wish to teach English to non-native speakers of the language. It is broken down into two parts, consisting of 6 modules each:

Part 1:  Fundamentals of TESOL which provides a general overview of the theories of TESOL and
Part 2:  Teaching English to Adult Learners which examines essential elements of adult ESOL instruction.

On successfully completing the course, participants will receive an Eastern Caribbean Joint Board of Teacher Education (ECJBTE) certificate.
 

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will have explored the theories of TESOL along with practical applications of the theories within the ESL/EFL classroom. In addition, they will have examined, used and assessed various activities and digital resources that support adult language learning and language skill instruction. Participants will also have interacted with useful assessment tools for evaluating learner proficiency across the language skills.
 

Target Audience

Individuals who are fluent in English and are interested in teaching English to non-native speakers. (teaching certification is not required).

Module 11: Grammar
Module 12: Writing Portfolios

Individuals must be 18 years and older to be admitted to the Certificate in TESOL programme. All students are required to pay course fees. Fees may be paid in full at enrolment or one semester at a time, prior to the commencement of study for each semester. Students who fail to pay fees will be unable to access the course site or any course materials.
